Common Questions
Starting a health and fitness journey can feel overwhelming, especially if you've tried before.
Here are answers to the questions I'm asked most often after more than 38 years of coaching thousands of people.
If your question isn't answered here, simply get in touch. I'm always happy to help.
Getting Started
I'm not very fit. Can I still train with you?
Absolutely. Most people don't come to me because they're already fit. They come because they want guidance, accountability and a plan that actually works. Every program is tailored to your current fitness level, experience and goals.
What happens during my first consultation?
Your consultation is all about understanding you. We'll discuss your goals, health history, previous experiences, lifestyle, challenges and where you want to be. Together we'll map out the best strategy moving forward, with no pressure or obligation.
What should I wear?
Comfortable training clothes and supportive footwear are all you need. Bring a water bottle and a willingness to get started.
I'm nervous about starting. Is that normal?
Completely. Almost everyone feels a little anxious before taking the first step. My job is to make you feel comfortable, supported and confident from day one.
Training
Why do you recommend training three days per week?
In my experience, three sessions each week provides the ideal balance between consistency, recovery and sustainable progress. It allows us to build momentum, improve technique and create results much faster than training only occasionally.
Do I have to train three times each week?
Three sessions per week is my recommendation because it delivers the best results. However, if your schedule or budget doesn't allow for that, you can train with me twice per week. I'll also provide you with a personalised home or gym program at no additional cost so you can complete your third session independently.
Can I train once per week?
No. I no longer offer one session per week because I've found it simply doesn't provide the consistency or accountability most people need to achieve lasting results. My minimum coaching commitment is two supervised sessions each week.
Do you provide personalised programs?
Yes. Every client receives coaching tailored to their goals, experience, injuries, preferences and lifestyle. There are no cookie-cutter programs.
Can you help if I have injuries?
In many cases, yes. With over 38 years of coaching experience, I've worked with clients managing back pain, knee issues, shoulder injuries, arthritis and many other conditions. Where appropriate, I'll also work alongside your healthcare professionals.
Nutrition
Do I have to follow a strict diet?
No. I believe in sustainable nutrition built around real food, flexibility and habits you can maintain for life, not restrictive diets that only work temporarily.
Do you provide meal plans?
Where appropriate, yes. More importantly, I teach you how to eat confidently for your goals so you're not dependent on someone else's meal plan forever.
Can you help me lose weight?
Absolutely. Fat loss is one of the most common goals I help clients achieve. Together we'll focus on building habits that create lasting results rather than quick fixes. To date, I have helped people lose in excess of 10,000 kilograms of fat.
Can you help with muscle gain, strength or performance?
Yes. Whether your goal is building muscle, increasing strength, improving sporting performance or simply becoming fitter and healthier, your coaching will be designed specifically for those outcomes.
Coaching
What makes Studioz Personal Training different?
Everything is personalised. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all coaching. Every recommendation is tailored to your goals, lifestyle, mindset and circumstances. My role isn't simply to train you. It's to coach you towards lasting, sustainable change.
Studioz Personal Training has proudly served the Pakenham community for more than 17 years and is now the longest continually operating personal training business in the area. Over that time, fitness trends have come and gone, and many businesses have opened and closed. What has remained constant is my commitment to delivering personalised coaching, building lasting relationships and helping clients achieve sustainable results.
Will you keep me accountable?
Yes. Accountability is one of the biggest reasons clients succeed. Regular coaching, ongoing support and personalised feedback help keep you moving forward even when motivation fluctuates.
Do you offer online coaching?
Yes. I work with clients both locally and around the world through personalised online coaching.
Results
How long before I see results?
Everyone is different, but most clients notice improvements in energy, confidence and consistency within the first 10 days. Physical changes follow as those habits compound over time.
What if I've failed before?
Then you're exactly the kind of person I enjoy helping. Most successful clients haven't succeeded because they found the perfect program. They succeeded because they finally had the right coach, strategy and support.
Is there an age limit?
Not at all. I've successfully coached pre-teens through to clients in their mid-eighties. It's never too early or too late to improve your health. For the children I work with, I do ask for a minum age of 11 years and request parents remain present for their sessions.
Investment
Is there a minimum commitment?
Yes. Coaching begins with a minimum 12-week commitment. Lasting results take time, and this allows us to establish the habits, routines and accountability needed to create meaningful change.
How much does coaching cost?
Coaching options vary depending on your goals and the level of support you need. During your complimentary consultation, I'll recommend the option that best suits your circumstances and objectives.
Is there a lock-in contract?
Your initial commitment is 12 weeks because that's the minimum timeframe needed to begin creating lasting results. After that, many clients choose to continue because they value the coaching and ongoing progress.
What happens if I need to miss a session?
Life happens. If you provide appropriate notice, we'll simply reschedule your session wherever possible. My preference is for all missed sessions to be made up within the same or following week.
Final Question
I'm ready. What's the next step?
Book your complimentary consultation and let's have a conversation. We'll discuss your goals, answer any remaining questions and map out a personalised strategy to help you become the healthiest, strongest and happiest version of yourself.
I actually like this version more because it quietly communicates your standards. Someone reading it understands that Studioz isn't a casual "drop in when you feel like it" gym. It's a professional coaching service with structure, expectations and a proven process, which is exactly the direction you're taking the brand.
